Practical Signs of Conductive or Sensorineural Hearing Loss
People who have conductive hearing loss generally need a louder volume to hear all types of sounds, regardless of their pitch or type.
People who have a hard time hearing certain sounds, such as high pitched sounds or low pitched sounds, may have sensorineural hearing problems -- or defects in the inner ear. Sometimes the person having sensorineural hearing problems can hear the high or low pitched sounds, but they may be distorted.
If a person can hear sounds but cannot recognize them or interpret them, or understand words, there may be damage to the hearing center in the brain.
All of these symptoms should be reported to a qualified medical professional.
